When your best friend in the whole world gets married you of course want to be involved. Jo wanted the decorations in a Rock ‘n’ Roll theme. I was excited by the style of party they were having and let my creative streak run wild. Held at Kustom Kommune, a motorcycle workshop in Collingwood we aimed to add colour and style to what was predominantly a masculine workspace with a bar.
Jo wore a black dress, they had Elvis as their civil celebrant and their little 3 girls involved; this was no ordinary wedding. Running with a wild tropical theme we used concrete posts designed and built by Joost Baker filled with foliage and vermillion toned flowers to create the show stopping entrance the couple would make. From behind the roller door a smoke machine blasted and out stepped the couple carrying their girls. The crowd went wild, Elvis entered and the tunes started; this was going to be a great party.
After the ceremony guests were guided into the workshop and greeted with 300 shots of tequila on the bar, the band started, the drinks flowed and everyone had a great time. More tropical vases, motorcycle memorabilia, and props with a nod to their favourite country and western music transformed the space.
We danced into the wee hours of the morning, this was a great wedding and a great party.
