This Flower filled Hens day in the Yarra Valley was held at The Farm, a picturesque setting in Warrendyte South. Kate works for Nouba, a well know wedding blog so it was only fitting her lovely team wanted to throw her a Hen’s day to remember. Given their lives revolve around all thing wedding it’s no surprise they got a great team on board to make this happen. I was super excited to be put in charge of the styling, florals and stationery for the day. We wanted to make the day fun and girly of course, but wanted to shy away from the traditional baby pinks associated with ‘hen’s do’s’.
The Farm was the perfect spot, big enough to have 100 guests for a wedding it’s also intimate enough to have a private party for 20. Serving amazing locally sourced food and wines from the famous Rob Dolan winery, everybody’s taste buds and tummies were well satisfied (mine included).
The day started with a flower crown workshop. A place was set for every guest with a kit for them to complete their crown on the day but also tools to take home with them. There was a frenzy for all the best flowers and even I was surprised at how well the flower novices picked up the craft, when the workshop was done each guest had a fabulous crown to wear for the rest of the festivities.
Games on the Green supplied fun activities for the ladies while they waited for lunch to be served. Backyard Badminton, Croquet and Fall out were some of the games enjoyed. It certainly sets you up for a great day when you are leaping all over the lawn in high heals while balancing a delicious glass of bubbles! There was a relaxed outdoor lounge set up for those who did not want to do the leaping, from which they could observe in comfort and style.
The Farm have lovely wooden tables which we kept bare and set with sage green natural linen napkins from Harry the Hirer, sleek black cutlery from Dann Event and tealights and candle sticks supplied from my own collection. Pops of luscious mauve, red and pink florals were placed on the tables leaving plenty of room of the delicious spread of sharing food The Farm are know for. Menus designed by us were placed on each setting, along with yummy marshmallow treats supplied by Black Pantry.
An incredible spread of cakes were put on by the very talented Gina from Miss Ladybird Cakes. We set to work to weave our floral magic on and around them and teamed with an abundance of candles and signage designed by us.
The day was a huge success, it was full of fun activities, loads of laughs and plenty of wonderful food. Kate was well and truly spoilt by her friends and work mates!
“Thank you so much I Heart Flowers for your amazing work at my hens. When I arrived I couldn’t believe my eyes, I had walked into the most beautiful event with stunning flowers, and to top it all off I got to feel super pretty with my gorgeous flower crown! The workshop was so much fun and we loved getting creative, Zoe’s presence made the day even more of an experience, she made it fun and with her guidance we were able to create some great flower crowns. Thank you again, I cannot speak highly enough of the styling, the workshop or the flowers!!! – is there anything you can’t do?!!”
